Hey folks. Wanted to update you all on what's been going on in my absence. I haven't totally given up on everyone, I've just been busy finalizing my new project "Playing Piano by Ear - Instructional Booklet".
This is 9 pages of the must know theory in order to play by ear. Of course, only 9 pages means there's a lot of music knowledge not included. This is because I wanted to include only the fundamental parts of theory and I'll leave the rest up to you. Once you understand the concepts described in the book you can play anything. I hope you all find this helpful!
PS: The book is in PDF format. If you follow the link you can download it to any device that supports PDF files (this includes iOS and Android).

Practice
Hey guys,
Haven't posted in awhile and wanted to catch up. Going to take this time to share a few ideas about practicing.
1) Practice consistently and relentlessly:
If you have a difficult song you're trying to overcome, don't ever let the song win. You may not get it that day or that week, but after sleeping on it and working on it day in and day out, you'll conquer it and be better because of it.
2) Practice fundamentals and not only songs:
It's easy as a musician to just use our practice time to play songs we know or are trying to learn. I'm the world's worst offender. Use at least some of your time to do things like muscle building, scale learning, theory practice, etc.
3) Don't burn out:
Don't overplay to the point that music moves from a passion to an obligation. When music is work, your creativity dwindles. When it's passion, you'll never be contained to a musical "box".
That's all for now, hope this helps someone!

Lead Sheet Locker
Hey guys. Just wanted to mention the new "Lead Sheet Locker" tab. While I am not a fan of using lead sheets to learn (memorize) songs, they are very helpful in a band to make sure everyone is on the same page. I'll put more up as I make them.

Wonderful Savior - Trent Cory
A very challenging song; however, the melody is catchy and the lyrics are great. Hope I didn't muddy up this song too much.

Great song for churches with a high concentration of older saints. The new mix is great for the younger people too.
